1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These terms apply to your use of Rank and Pay (rankandpay.com), operated by an individual based in the United States (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

2. A private site, not a government service

Rank and Pay is a private, independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Department of Defense (also called the Department of War), the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, the Department of Veterans Affairs, DFAS, DTMO or any other government agency. Official rates and decisions come only from those agencies. Nothing on this site is an official statement, a Leave and Earnings Statement, a VA decision, a fitness test score of record or a form. Using the site does not file, change or start anything with any agency.

3. Information, not professional advice

The site is informational. The calculators do arithmetic on the numbers you enter using the published tables and rules shown with each tool, and the guides explain pay, allowances, VA compensation, fitness tests, retirement and education benefits in general terms. Nothing here is legal, tax, financial, investment, medical, fitness or benefits advice, and using the site does not create any professional relationship with us. You are not relying on us for any decision about your pay, your claim, your training, your retirement or your money.

For your own situation, ask the people who decide or advise: your finance office or DFAS about pay; VA, or a VA-accredited representative (free through Veterans Service Organizations), about ratings and payments; your unit or test administrator about fitness tests; a doctor before starting a training program; and a legal assistance office, a tax professional or a personal financial counselor about legal, tax and money decisions. 4. The calculators are estimates

  • Rates, tables and rules change — pay and allowances every January, VA rates every December, fitness tables when a service revises them, sometimes mid-year. The calculators use the version we last verified on the agency’s own page, on the date shown with the tool. Check the official source before you rely on a number. What the paying or deciding agency actually pays or records is what counts.
  • Results depend on what you enter and on the assumptions shown with each tool. Your record may include pays, deductions, ratings, waivers or rules the tool does not know about. Agencies may also round differently by a cent.
  • Where a rule could not be confirmed, the tool says “Not modeled” or shows a range instead of guessing. A result that leaves something out is not a promise that nothing else applies.
  • The tools are free and run in your browser. We may change or remove them at any time.

5. Our content

The text, design and code of this site belong to the operator, except for material credited to others, public government works and the trademarks of their owners. You may link to any page and quote short excerpts with a link back. Don’t copy whole guides, republish the site’s content, or scrape it in bulk without written permission.

Names of agencies, services, programs and products are used only to identify them; GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Rank and Pay uses no seal, emblem, insignia or logo of any agency or military service, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them.

6. Acceptable use

Don’t interfere with the site or its security, overload it with automated requests, or try to access anything that is not publicly offered.

The site links to other websites, mostly the agencies’ own pages, and shows ads served by Google. Some links are affiliate links, marked where they appear: Amazon links are marked “(paid link)” (As an Amazon Associate, Rank and Pay earns from qualifying purchases.), and any other program’s links are marked “(affiliate link; we earn a commission)”. If you buy after following one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We don’t control other sites or ads and aren’t responsible for their content, products, prices or practices. An ad on this site is not an endorsement, and no advertiser is affiliated with the site.

8. No warranty

The site and tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, timeliness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the site is free of errors, that an amount shown is the amount an agency will pay you, that a score shown is the score you will be given, or that a result suits your situation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost pay, benefits, profits or data, arising from your use of the site or the tools, including decisions you make based on them. Where liability can’t be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us to use the site (which is nothing) or US $50.

If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, email hello@rankandpay.com with the subject “DMCA notice” and include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. a description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
  3. the address (URL) of the material on this site;
  4. your name, mailing address, phone number and email address;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.

We will review valid notices promptly and remove or disable infringing material. If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the same address with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
